Land Trust Alliance Honors New Jersey's Tewksbury Land Trust with National Award

WASHINGTON, Oct. 6, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Land Trust Alliance, a national land conservation organization working to save the places people need and love by strengthening land conservation across America, today honored New Jersey's Tewksbury Land Trust with a National Land Trust Excellence Award.

Announced during Rally 2021: The National Land Conservation Conference, the nation's largest gathering of land conservation leaders, the National Land Trust Excellence Award recognized Tewksbury Land Trust for its work on the 10 Mile Trail, a network of trails and preserved lands located roughly 50 miles west of New York City near Oldwick, New Jersey.

"A project of this scope would be impressive for any land trust to undertake," said Andrew Bowman, the Alliance's president and CEO. "But it's particularly impressive for an all-volunteer organization to take on."

Development of the 10 Mail Trail was a collaborative project from Tewksbury Land Trust, New Jersey Conservation Foundation, Raritan Headwaters, Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation that has fostered community unity.

"You know, this is what it's all about, right here," said Ken Klipstein, Tewksbury Land Trust's founder and past president. "Long after we're gone, generations of future Tewksbury residents and the broader community will have the 10 Mile Trail to enjoy."

Also recognized during Rally was conservationist Dr. Mark Anderson, recipient of this year's Kingsbury Browne Conservation Leadership Award & Fellowship. For more information about Rally and each award winner, visit https://www.landtrustalliance.org.
