Media Advisory - Minister of Infrastructure and Communities to make an announcement about funding for the North


IQALUIT, NU, Aug. 3, 2021 /CNW/ - The Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities of Canada, on behalf of the Minister of Transport, the Honourable Omar Alghabra, and the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, the Honourable Bernadette Jordan, will make an announcement about funding for the North. The Honourable David Akeeagok, Deputy Premier, Minister of Economic Development and Transportation, Government of Nunavut, PJ Akeeagok, President, Qikiqtani Inuit Association, and Natan Obed, President, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, will also make remarks. 

Minister McKenna will be available to answer questions from the media following the announcement.

In line with the Public Health Agency of Canada and Nunavut's Chief Public Health Officer orders and guidance, in-person attendance will be controlled by Transport Canada. Official photo identification must be presented at registration. Physical distancing measures are in place and wearing a face cover is recommended.

We ask for people who have recently received a positive diagnosis for COVID-19, or are awaiting test results, or who have been exposed to COVID-19, or are experiencing symptoms as described on Health Canada's website, not to attend.
