Experience Joyful Living: Jubilee Is 1st Texas Community Focused on Enhancing Resident Well-Being

In the heart of Hockley, just south of Highway 290 and minutes from the Grand Parkway, lies Jubilee ? a 1,620-acre residential community by Johnson Development that has a focus on joy and the holistic well-being of its residents.

Jubilee's journey began with a question: "How can we create a community that helps residents navigate the stress and negativity of everyday life?" This question sparked a vision, propelling Jubilee to become Texas' first wellness community ? a joyful haven intending to enhance its residents' well-being. The commitment is not just a concept; it's woven into the fabric of Jubilee, shaping thoughtful land layouts, wellness-centric amenities, positive architecture and a lifestyle that goes beyond the ordinary.

"We want to raise the bar for how a community can better the lives of the individuals that live in it," said June Tang, General Manager and Vice President of Jubilee. "Every aspect of this new community is being intentionally designed to promote positivity, allowing residents to decompress from the everyday grind and connect with nature and each other."

Jubilee isn't just a development; it's a living example of how a community can profoundly enrich the lives of those who call it home.

A Holistic Approach to Amenities: Nurturing Body, Mind and Soul

Jubilee believes in taking care of well-being from every angle with amenities that benefit your body, emotions and mind. Four pillars of well-being ? connection, exploration, reflection and inspiration ? are intricately woven into the community's design, shaping what is known as Wellness Zones. Strategically scattered throughout Jubilee, these zones cater to specific purposes for residents, creating intentional spaces that align with their diverse needs. Director of Marketing Haley Peck explains, "Residents have easy access to whatever they might need at the moment, whether it be connecting with others, spending time in nature or finding a quiet spot for introspection."

Connection zones foster organic gatherings and community-planned events, encouraging residents to disconnect from the digital world and immerse themselves in the present moment.

Exploration zones go beyond traditional parks, offering barefoot zones for grounding and spaces for engaging in ecotherapy, fostering a deeper connection with nature.

Reflection zones provide quiet retreats for decompression and mindfulness, complemented by resident events focused on meditation and breathwork.

Meanwhile, inspiration zones come alive with bright, interactive playscapes designed to invigorate children's imagination and ignite playfulness in adults.

Looking ahead, the wellness concepts extend to signature amenities like the Joy Hub recreation complex, where phase 1 includes a pool, event lawn, working lounge and splash pad, creating a vibrant gathering space.

Future development includes 30 acres of parks, 270 acres of green space and waterways, robust walking trails, community gardens, a dog park, sports courts and more. In every detail, Jubilee stands as a testament to a community where well-being isn't just a concept ? it's a way of life.

Healthier Homes Come Standard

In keeping with its commitment to the concept of holistic wellness and the desire to improve life for its residents, Jubilee will include several enhanced wellness features as standard in every home.

"Advances over the past few years have given builders better tools when it comes to air quality, water quality and more," Peck said. "Given that we spend a significant portion of our lives indoors, we are excited to offer these health-minded options as standard features in every Jubilee home."

The builder wellness features are centered on improved air and water quality, lighting and comfort. Air and water quality features include a fresh-air intake, a MERV 13-rated whole-home, four-inch media filter and a reverse-osmosis filtration system. The standard lighting package for Jubilee includes all light switches and light bulbs in three rooms ? presumably the primary bedroom, kitchen and family room ? to be circadian rhythm lighting, which can improve a person's circadian rhythm and lead to better sleep and improved long-term health. Each home will also have a platform automation panel to control lighting brightness, color temperature, dim level settings and outdoor lighting emergency flash status. Comfort features builders are including standard in Jubilee homes incorporate a home automation panel, smart thermostats, a smart front door lock, a video doorbell, window prewiring for blackout shades in at least one room and security prewiring for one security panel, all doors and all operable first-floor windows.

Solidifying its commitment to well-being, Jubilee is the first Texas community to become an early adopter of the WELL for Residential program by the International WELL Building Institute that is designed to transform the way homes are designed, built and maintained to support human health and well-being. Each home in Jubilee is being constructed meet WELL for Residential standards.

"This new WELL for Residential program adds another layer to the holistic wellness vision we have set for Jubilee," said Tang. "It can help give residents further peace of mind in their choice to live in Jubilee."
