In 2023, the company's focus on sustainability remained fundamentally about its customers. KB Home continued to demonstrate that a sustainable home can significantly reduce the total cost of homeownership while exceeding customers' dreams. The report highlights the company's industry-leading sustainability initiatives and achievements from this past year.

In 2023, KB Home achieved the following outcomes:

• Energy-Efficiency Leadership: KB Home's 2023 national average Home Energy Rating System^® (HERS) Index score was 46, which is 54% more efficient than a typical home built in 2006 and underscores the company's longstanding commitment to helping homebuyers lower their utility bills and preserve natural resources. Additionally, KB Home has built over 190,000 high-performance ENERGY STAR^® certified homes since 2000, more than any other national homebuilder, cumulatively saving homeowners an estimated $1.2 billion in utility bills and avoiding 7.4 billion pounds of CO₂ emissions.
• Promoting Water Resiliency: The company constructed a record-high number of WaterSense^® labeled homes in all its new communities across the southwestern U.S. to help support the region's long-term water resilience. Since 2005, KB Home has built over 21,000 Water Smart and WaterSense labeled homes, more than any other homebuilder, helping to conserve an estimated 2 billion gallons of water annually. The company believes this commitment is not just about reducing utility costs; it's about safeguarding the future.
• Customer Satisfaction Excellence: KB Home helped over 13,200 customers achieve their dream of homeownership, 74% first-time and first move-up buyers and 67% from diverse backgrounds. The company's customer-centric approach and dedication to being the most customer-obsessed homebuilder in the world helped improve satisfaction rates by three points in a single year to an impressive 94% and achieve the distinction of being the #1 customer-ranked national homebuilder in third-party buyer surveys.
• Community Investment and Empowerment: The company invested meaningfully in the local infrastructure of the communities in which it operates, including more than $124.9 million toward schools, roads and parks. KB Home also donated $1.93 million and dedicated over 5,300 volunteer hours through its KB Cares philanthropic program, investing in and strengthening the places where its employees live, work and build, and demonstrating employees' desire to make a difference in the wider communities where they call home.
