Schindler Elevator Corporation Achieves Two Companywide ISO Certifications

Schindler Elevator Corporation, a leading mobility provider of elevators, escalators and moving walks, recently became the first North American elevator company to achieve two companywide ISO certifications ? ISO 9001, a global standard for quality management, and ISO 14001, a global standard for environmental management systems. Unlike previous certifications that have been secluded to a singular business operation, these are the first to be implemented across their entire value chain.

"Quality and sustainability are at the heart of what we do and permeate every aspect of our business," says Schindler's Manager of Sustainability and Management Systems, Chelsea Payne. "Being the first North American elevator company to achieve these ISO certifications companywide is an incredible milestone for us ? but the work doesn't stop there. We are continually evaluating our processes to ensure excellence in all aspects of our business to enable greater safety and sustainability."

Schindler has historically been a sustainability leader in the elevator industry, earning North America's first LEED Gold green building certification for their manufacturing facility in Hanover, Pennsylvania in 2014. Most recently, Schindler established an internal cross-functional sustainability committee as part of their commitment to achieving net-zero by 2040.

In 2024, Schindler is pursuing ISO 45001 certification, which is the global standard for managing occupational health and safety risk.
