Aqua Virginia Earns State Excellence Award for 19th Consecutive Year

Aqua Virginia, an Essential Utilities, Inc. company, today announced its Lake Monticello water treatment facility received the 2023 Silver Water Treatment Plant Performance Award for Excellence in Filtration and Backwash from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Office of Drinking Water. This marks the 19th consecutive year the company has received a Water Treatment Plant Performance Award, which recognizes drinking water plants for exceptional operational performance and adherence to stringent water quality standards.

"It's a tremendous honor for Aqua to be recognized every year for nearly two decades straight," said John Aulbach, president, Aqua Virginia. "The recognition is a testament to the dedication of our entire team. More importantly, it reinforces our unwavering commitment to delivering reliable access to the most essential resource ? safe water ? to every community we serve for generations to come."

These awards are presented annually through Virginia's Optimization Program, which seeks to reduce risks to public health associated with drinking water by encouraging waterworks to exceed minimum standards for superior water quality.

Devon Scallan, environmental compliance manager at Aqua, and Larry Brookman, facility operator at Aqua, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
