Boys & Girls Clubs in Colorado Hosts Youth of the Year Competition and Celebration April 16

Twelve youth nominated by Boys & Girls Clubs from across Colorado will compete in the annual Colorado Youth of the Year Competition on Tuesday, April 16 at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, located at 2001 Colorado Blvd., from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

The Youth of the Year Program recognizes Club members for their leadership, service, academic excellence, and dedication as positive voices in their community. Twelve Colorado Boys & Girls Clubs nominated a Club member to advance to the state-level competition in Denver. The Denver competition is held over two days and includes interviews, speeches, and a review of the youth's academic achievement and impact on their local Club and community. The Youth of the Year winner receives scholarships and advances to a regional competition.

"The Youth of the Year event shines a light on the incredible work of the 80-plus Boys & Girls Clubs across Colorado, offering vital support, mentorship, and enriching experiences to thousands of youths each day," remarked Kaycee Headrick, Executive Director of Boys & Girls Clubs in Colorado. "These young individuals demonstrate exceptional character and leadership, inspiring us with their potential to become our future leaders."

At the event, Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser will receive the 2024 Champion of Youth Award for his work advocating for Colorado youth.

The 2024 Youth of the Year event title sponsor is Credit Union of Colorado.
