Bumbershoot Announces Camilla Walter as New Executive Director of Nonprofit Arm, Third Stone

Today, Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival announces the appointment of Camilla Walter as the executive director of its nonprofit entity, Third Stone. Walter brings over 10 years of experience in fund development, along with strategic planning and fundraising skills to her new role.

Most recently, Walter served as the executive director of Real Change Homeless Empowerment Project, a nonprofit that includes the Real Change Newspaper known as North America's leading street newspaper; and a vendor program that offers a low-barrier work opportunity to hundreds of homeless and very low-income people in the Seattle area.

As the new executive director for Third Stone, Walter will guide organizational operations and growth while also leading strategic planning, fundraising, program development, and community engagement efforts.

"During my time at Real Change, I was honored to be part of a collective effort of dedicated, caring individuals ? all working together to uplift voices, art, and perspectives that make our region so special. It was these same endeavors that drew me to Third Stone," said Camilla Walter, Executive Director, Third Stone. "Seattle has an iconic arts, music and entertainment community, and Third Stone is committed to creating a compelling experience that invites all to participate, and builds the next generation of arts and music producers. I am so excited to get started."

Third Stone is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts and education organization founded in Seattle in 2022. The organization has a mission to foster an inclusive, energized, and sustainable arts economy in the Pacific Northwest through youth education and community-driven programming.

Third Stone also drives Bumbershoot's Workforce Development program, which aims to remove barriers of entry into the live-music business by offering free educational opportunities for young adults ages 17-25. The Workforce Development program is currently finalizing its 2024 cohort, and will kick off in late April.

Bumbershoot 2024 takes place on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. To lean more or purchase tickets, visit https://bumbershoot.com/.

About Third Stone:

Third Stone's mission is to help foster an inclusive, energized, and sustainable arts economy in the Pacific Northwest through festival, artistic spectacle, and community driven programming. Their primary purpose is to support the Bumbershoot brand by producing a main campus event on Labor Day that is equitably programmed, affordably priced, and accessible to all. Third Stone houses Bumbershoot's workforce and education program, providing critical business skills to youths aged 17-25 using a "festival as classroom" philosophy. Inspired by, and collaborating with, the wildly successful Concert Career Pathways Education Program (CCP) from UC Theatre in Berkeley, CA, Third Stone's program focuses on serving young adults from communities that have been historically underrepresented in the industry. Third Stone also works with participants to support their emerging careers through resume building and job placement support. 80% of the 2023 graduates went on to employment in the industry. By partnering with the UC Theatre and other local non-profits like The Vera Project, Friends of the Waterfront, Teen Tix, and more, Third Stone works collectively to build a more equitable and sustainable creative arts ecosystem.
