Ed Freedman's Stable Road Foundation Named Founding Member of Imua Family Services' New Visionary Hui
Stable Road Foundation, a community nonprofit founded by Maui-based philanthropist Ed Freedman, has been honored by Imua Family Services as a founding member of its new Visionary Hui.
The Hawaiian word hui can be roughly translated as "community gathering" or "association." Imua Family Services is launching the group "for the purpose of creating a better future for Maui's keiki and their families," according to the organization. Keiki is a Hawaiian term for children.
The hui will be composed of innovative and creative individuals as part of a volunteer collective committed to reimagining the future of children on Maui. It will potentially redefine the solutions for health, education, and services for Maui families.
Freedman will be hosting the inaugural meeting of the Visionary Hui at his home on Stable Road on a date to be determined. The event will be open to benefactors who contribute $10,000 or more to Imua Family Services at its annual gala, which will be held this year on April 13 at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa. This year's theme is "Cleopatra's Ball."
"Ever since we were founded, Imua Family Services has been one of our closest friends," says Pablo Rendon, executive director of Stable Road Foundation. "We're proud to support their incredible array of children's services, programs, and community events, whether that's serving as a Multiverse Sponsor or hosting family fun days at the Stable Road property. They do invaluable work on behalf of Maui's children, and we hope to inspire others to support them as well."
Founded in 2017 by Ed Freedman, Stable Road Foundation is committed to strengthening communities by providing opportunities for children to achieve their fullest potential, both on Maui and around the world. The Foundation has previously supported a wide range of Imua Family Services endeavors, such as the construction of its new pre-school and its popular events like Pedal Imua.
"When we refer to someone as a visionary, we mean that they have strong, original ideas, about how things might be different in the future, especially about how things might be improved. This year Imua Family Services celebrates 77 years of service here in Maui County. Our name, Imua, is the Hawaiian word which means to move forward?it is important that we do this with vision, purpose, and integrity," said Dean Wong, Imua's Executive Director. "I am so thankful for Ed and the Stable Road Foundation being part of launching such a meaningful program. It's a program people need to be invested in, and it's a sign of their commitment as thought leaders for Maui's future and the future of Imua Family."
Imua Family Services is widely recognized as one of Hawaii's most impactful nonprofits. Founded in 1947, the organization provides education and early childhood development programming to families on Maui, Molokai, and Lana'i. Named to Hawaii Business Magazine's "Best Places to Work" lists for 2023 and 2022, Imua's focus on serving families of children with special needs has made it a beloved community institution for years.
