MyEyeDr. Partners with Prevent Blindness to Promote Eye Health and Safety During April 8 Solar Eclipse, Gives Away Solar Glasses at 400+ Locations

Ahead of the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, MyEyeDr., a leading provider of eye health services with over 800 locations across the U.S., is educating consumers about the importance of eye health and the need for proper eye protection while experiencing this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Through this effort, and in partnership with Prevent Blindness, MyEyeDr. is giving away expert-approved solar eclipse glasses in 438 offices across 20 states in the eclipse's path of totality. Beginning March 25, prospective patients and community members can stop into their local MyEyeDr. to get a pair of free solar eclipse glasses, at participating locations while supplies last.

"We appreciate the opportunity to once again partner with Prevent Blindness to help educate people on the importance of eye health and protection, and there's no better time to do so than this historical and exciting event that can have real eye health implications," said MyEyeDr. Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Artis Beatty. "Through this partnership we hope to not only help our patients safely experience the solar eclipse, but also reinforce MyEyeDr.'s commitment to providing quality care and making a difference in the communities in which it serves."

Dr. Beatty and MyEyeDr.'s experienced eyecare professionals highly recommend that anybody planning to enjoy the April 8 eclipse do so with caution, as looking directly at the sun without specialized solar eyewear can cause immediate, long-lasting damage.

To keep your eyes safe during the eclipse, MyEyeDr. recommends the following safety tips:

Since 2001, MyEyeDr. has been on a mission to reinvent the eye care and eyewear experience. At the heart of every MyEyeDr. location is an experienced optometrist who leads patients through comprehensive exams. In addition, MyEyeDr. optometrists use digital retinal imaging and other diagnostic technology to help get an even more in-depth understanding of patients' ocular health. The MyEyeDr. team can help patients with their visual needs as well as diagnose, treat, or manage numerous ocular conditions, such as cataracts, dry eye and glaucoma.
