- Mercy Hospital Southeast Achieves Lowest Fall Rates in 15 Years: Showcasing the effectiveness of HD Nursing's Falls Prevention Program, Mercy Hospital Southeast celebrates a remarkable achievement with the lowest fall rates in 15 years. Specific units, including ICU, OB, CVP, and 5H, recorded zero falls in December 2023, earning No Fall Certificates. This milestone marks the best year for falls, with about 30% decrease in falls from baseline resulting in an estimated $425,165 in savings.
- Cost-Savings Recognition in Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Article: Highlighting the success of the Hester Davis Fall Prevention Program, is a groundbreaking study published in Clinical Nurse Specialist authored by Kimberly Pate, DNP, RN, ACCNS-AG, PCCN-K, NE-BC, FCNS, Sarah R. Rutledge, MSN, APRN, ACCNS-AG, CCRN, OCN, and Latasia Belin, DNP, APRN, AGCNS-BC, ONC, FCNS. The comprehensive, evidence-based prevention initiative using HD Nursing's leading edge clinical content led to a significant decrease in falls (from 744 to 692 in 9 months) and estimated cost-savings ranging from $202,176 to $491,400.

At the time of implementation, the hospital system's fall rate had been the highest since Clements opened in 2014 and has steadily decreased by 46% over the years post-implementation, consistently surpassing the national NDNQI average of 2.56 since 2021.
