Southern Black Girls And Women's Consortium Announces 2024 Black Girls Dream Conference, June 7-8 In Atlanta, Georgia

Southern Black Girls and Women's Consortium's opens registration for an immersive experience and celebration of Afrofuturism and Black Girl Joy!

ATLANTA, Feb. 27, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- The Southern Black Girls and Women's Consortium (Southern Black Girls) has announced that the 2024 Black Girls Dream Conference is headed to Atlanta, GA! The two-day event will take place Friday, June 7 - Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis (265 Peachtree Center Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia 30303). The Conference will be a safe space full of love, fun and sisterhood as well as an experience that inspires, empowers, and cultivates the dreams of southern Black girls, gender-expansive youth and Black women of all ages.

This year's theme is "Afrofuturism," which according to the National Museum of African American History & Culture expresses notions of Black identity, agency and freedom through art, creative works and activism that envision liberated futures for Black life. The theme ties directly to Southern Black Girls' vision to provide an immersive space where Black girls and women can explore different pieces of who they are, what they love and what brings them joy.

"Nothing excites me more than bringing the Black Girls Dream Conference to Atlanta," shares an excited Malikah Berry Rogers, executive director of the Southern Black Girls and Women's Consortium. "Atlanta is a beacon of Black excellence, rooted in a rich history of the civil rights movement as well as its vibrant contributions in entertainment and Black entrepreneurship. Atlanta embodies the essence of Afrofuturism and I am confident that this gathering will not only honor our past, but will also inspire and propel us toward a future where Black girls and women continue to thrive and shape their own destinies."

The 2024 Black Girls Dream Conference will host a series of dynamic, interactive workshops led by inspiring speakers as well as impactful conversations centering mental wellness, health, beauty, social justice, financial literacy, and much more. The workshops are curated to inspire and engage the next generation of Black girls, gender expansive youth, and women to explore, dream and do.

In addition to interactive workshops and compelling discussions, the conference will also include signature moments such as the first ever Brunch in Blush, the exciting We Got Now panel, and an exclusive fireside chat with Black women from the African diaspora to share in our collective struggles and triumphs!

"We're in a special time and the Black Girls Dream Conference is where we embark on a new path for us to activate and elevate higher toward our destiny," declares LaTosha Brown, visionary founder of Southern Black Girls. "Now, more than ever, we need space for girls, gender expansive youth and women to dream limitlessly, and feel supported in their visions. This conference creates that space where dreams take flight and ignites a flame of possibility and liberation that urges us to envision a world where Black girls and women are not only seen but celebrated and where their dreams are not just realized but revered."

The Black Girls Dream Conference offers something for all! Registration is now open and available through May 1, 2024. ABOUT THE SOUTHERN BLACK GIRLS AND WOMEN'S CONSORTIUM
The Southern Black Girls and Women's Consortium (Southern Black Girls) is a collective of Black women in philanthropy, activism and girls' work, who hold deep roots in movement-building. Established in 2017, Southern Black Girls has become a disruptor in grant-making and is positioned as a catalyst to fundraise and provide greater resources toward underfunded organizations that, intentionally, support and empower Black girls and women in the South. Southern Black Girls recognizes their critical role and the importance of centering the lived experiences and leadership of those most impacted by deep-seated injustices. The organization is led by three anchor institutions including the BlackBelt Community Foundation, the Fund for Southern Communities and the TruthSpeaks Innovation Foundation. The collective also includes a host of grassroots and advocacy partners, who are actively engaging in this work across the region.
