Verdantas Expands Water Services Portfolio with Acquisition of Peterson Brustad Inc.

Verdantas, a private-equity-backed firm specializing in environmental consulting, sustainable engineering, modeling and digital technology, announced today it has acquired Peterson Brustad, Inc. (PBI).

Based in Folsom, California, PBI brings invaluable expertise and experience to Verdantas, broadening the depth and range of services within the water market, and public agencies specifically. The addition of PBI strengthens the Verdantas water services offering, adding a strong skillset in water supply and storage, distribution and conveyance, pump stations, water and wastewater master planning, flood control, storm drainage and water treatment. This expertise, combined with an understanding of the complex California water market, bolsters the services offered by both PBI and Verdantas.

"PBI has a strong presence in Northern California and will be a valuable addition to the Verdantas West team, which currently includes over 200 staff; fifty licensed civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, and engineering geologists based in Southern California," remarked Jesse Kropelnicki, CEO of Verdantas. "The organic synergy and collective expertise in California will ensure seamless collaboration for site assessments, infrastructure design, environmental impact studies, sustainable development, and resilience planning."

"California presents distinctive engineering design challenges. With Verdantas, we can now incorporate in-house, robust geotechnical and geological expertise to our projects that was previously outsourced," stated Karl Brustad, Principal at PBI." "Our union with Verdantas is geared towards broadening our service spectrum, offering comprehensive solutions in flood control, storm drainage, and water resource management. This expansion will bring added value to existing clients in Northern California, allowing us to provide a more comprehensive set of engineering solutions to our clients and will also provide more direct access to clients in Southern California."

Tony Brindisi, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at RTC Partners, said, "PBI becomes Verdantas' inaugural pure-play water engineering company in California, a pivotal move considering the high demand for water resources in the state. This strategic acquisition addresses the critical need for water-related expertise in a region facing challenges related to water resources and limited supply."

Verdantas is excited about this strategic move, positioning the company to become a leader in sustainable water solutions and aligning seamlessly with our commitment to environmental responsibility and our sustainability vision pillar. This acquisition not only advances us closer to the forefront of the industry but also addresses a crucial aspect of our national sustainable service offerings goals. By actively engaging in impactful projects, we aim to contribute to solving pressing water challenges, promoting conservation, enhancing water quality, and fostering sustainable practices. This move not only empowers our employees to be part of meaningful initiatives but also underscores Verdantas' dedication to shaping a resilient and sustainable future for our country by tackling key water problems in the West.
