2024 "Roadmap to Safety" Report Card to Rate 50 States & DC on Essential Traffic Safety Laws to Curb Historically High Roadway Deaths


Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety will soon release the highly anticipated 2024 Roadmap to Safety. This comprehensive report will rate each state and DC on their progress in enacting 16 crucial traffic safety laws. With an estimated 42,795 fatalities in 2022 alone, urgent action is needed. The report will call on Governors and state legislatures to close specific gaps in their laws, addressing issues like drunk driving, distracted driving, and young driver safety. Additionally, it will urge the U.S. Transportation Department to implement pending federal vehicle safety standards.

WASHINGTON, Nov. 30, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- 2024 "Roadmap to Safety" will identify "best and worst" states and provide a comprehensive "how-to" guide for state and federal action to prevent traffic crashes, deaths and injuries.

Every day 118 people are killed and over 6,800 others are injured in traffic crashes," said Cathy Chase, President of Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety. "Our report is an urgent call to action for state lawmakers and federal legislative and regulatory officials, to prevent these tragic losses.
