The MolinaCares Accord Invests $200,000 to Improve Maternal and Health Outcomes for Georgians
The MolinaCares Accord ("MolinaCares") announced its commitment to improving Georgia's maternal and child health outcomes, as well as improving behavioral health outcomes throughout the state, with $200,000 in grants.
"The MolinaCares Accord is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals by supporting meaningful, measurable, and innovative solutions that improve health and well-being on the ground in local communities," said Carolyn Ingram, executive director of The Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation. "We are proud to partner with organizations to overcome barriers to maternal, infant, and mental health care services, and provide resources that positively impact the lives of Georgia's families."
The MolinaCares grants will fund community-based organizations including doula care, perinatal education, peer support groups, home visitation services, and more. A grant was presented to Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia, Inc. (HMHBCG) in support of Pickles and Ice Cream Georgia, a virtual platform that provides free, evidence-informed, maternal and infant health classes, informational videos, and resources to families from pregnancy through postpartum.
"It is an honor when Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia can partner with community-minded organizations like MolinaCares to improve the health and well-being of Georgia families throughout the perinatal period," said Ky Lindberg, CEO of HMHBCG. "This grant allows us to continue to connect families with free education and resources. It also allows us to assess the program's effectiveness, identify and fill gaps, and respond to the ever-evolving needs of our communities through community-centered, culturally relevant resources that foster healthy outcomes for Georgia's moms and their babies."
MolinaCares is supporting Wellstar's Doula Labor program, which expands personalized, quality maternal care services to expectant mothers in Georgia, as well as the training and onboarding of new doulas. The MolinaCares grant to Wellstar also includes support for its Soul Support program, which focuses on providing evidence-based mental health education for community and faith-based leaders to better identify and connect individuals to care and mitigate the stigma associated with mental health care.
In addition, the MolinaCares grants address housing insecurity and other critical needs. Funding will support Georgia Healthy Family Alliance's rural Georgia Urgent Need Grants program, designed to provide non-medical support that improves access to quality health care for the underserved in rural Georgia communities. Other grant recipients include Jaden's Voice, Gateway Center, Southeast Georgia Communities Project, Resilient Georgia, ARCHI, Literacy Alliance, and MUST Ministries.
