Media Advisory - Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence Itinerary for Veterans' Week


OTTAWA, ON, Nov. 3, 2023 /CNW/ - The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, will participate in a number of events, meetings and activities during Veterans' Week, which runs from November 6 to 11, 2023.

2023 also marks the 75th anniversary of United Nations peacekeeping. Canada has a long history of helping defend and maintain peace around the world. More than 125,000 Canadian Armed Forces members have served in international peacekeeping efforts in dozens of countries and across generations.

Throughout the week, Minister Petitpas Taylor will meet with Veterans and their families, stakeholders and partner organizations across the country to commemorate and recognize the service and sacrifice of Canada's Veterans.

She will begin the week in Atlantic Canada, in Oromocto, before returning to Ottawa.

On November 8th, Minister Petitpas Taylor will visit Winnipeg, where Indigenous Veterans' Day was first recognized, to acknowledge the contributions of Indigenous Veterans in times of war, peace, and current operations.

During the latter half of the week, Minister Petitpas Taylor will spend time in Toronto before returning to the National Capital Region for National Remembrance Day events.
