Fahim Samaha Proudly Announces Ryegate Power Plant Project Adds Pellet Production

Fahim Samaha, President of Ryegate, Vermont - last week announced plans to add wood pellet production to their existing biomass power plant. The new project, which is expected to cost several million dollars, will improve the overall efficiency of the plant and create new jobs in the community.

BOSTON, MA / ACCESSWIRE / October 31, 2023 / Under the plan, Ryegate Associates will install a new heat recovery system at the power plant. This system will use the waste heat from the plant to dry and compress wood chips, turning them into wood pellets. Wood pellets are a renewable and sustainable fuel source that can be used to heat homes and businesses.

Ryegate Associates has created a new affiliate company, Vermont Biocarbon, to operate the wood pellet production facility. The company expects to produce approximately 90,000 tons of wood pellets per year, which will be sold to customers in Vermont and surrounding states.

This project is totally in line with the VT state's goal of emissions reductions, namely Vermont's Clean Heat Standard (S.5) enacted in May 2023 https://www.ncelenviro.org/articles/vermont-enacts-nations-firstclean-heat-standard/

The wood pellet production project is expected to create 5-10 new jobs in the Ryegate area. The company will also source wood chips from local suppliers, which will support the region's forestry industry.

"We are excited to announce this new project," said Larry Anderson, plant manager at Ryegate Power Station. "Adding wood pellet production to our existing operations will allow us to improve the efficiency of our plant and create new jobs in the community. We are also committed to sourcing wood chips from local suppliers, which will support the region's forestry industry."

The Ryegate Power Plant Project is expected to be completed in 4th quarter 2024.

Fahim Samaha says that the Ryegate Power Plant Project has a number of benefits for the community, including:

The Ryegate Power Plant Project is a positive development for the Ryegate community and the region as a whole. It is expected to create new jobs, support the local forestry industry, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
