Lexington Law Continues to Fight for Consumers After a Firm Restructure

Lexington Law announced today that it has emerged from bankruptcy and continues to help customers suffering from errors on their credit reports. Since 2013, Lexington Law has helped consumers remove more than 79 million tradelines on their credit reports. These inaccurate and unsubstantiated errors served as unnecessary and unfair roadblocks to countless Americans attempting to purchase homes and automobiles, rent apartments, find jobs, and climb out of debt. One in 5 Americans have errors on their credit reports, and Lexington Law is still here ready to help them remove these errors and rebuild their financial lives.

While Lexington Law is complying with all laws and regulations on the books, unfortunately, most credit repair companies are ignoring the CFPB and a recent court ruling that limits how consumers can be billed when telemarketing was used to establish the relationship. The TSR requires that a credit repair company wait at least 6 months after results have been achieved before a consumer can be billed. In order to comply with the court's interpretation of the TSR, Lexington Law now onboards all new clients by way of a seamless digital signup experience.

"This has been a challenging year that required us to transition our entire business model while continuing to serve our customers suffering from latent errors on their credit reports," said John Heath, Directing Attorney for Lexington Law. "Millions of hard-working Americans suffer from inaccurate credit reports, and we're proud of our work helping many of them contest and remove these errors and rebuild their lives. But while we are complying with all laws and regulations, most credit repair organizations are still using phones to solicit customers, in violation of the recent court ruling. We hope the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will work to ensure that all credit repair organizations are operating under the same of rules."
