With the belief of being stronger together, Christian Community Credit Union (CCCU) sent an urgent message to the entire membership database, rallying the community to support the people of Maui in partnership with American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS). The call to action indeed generated an impactful wave of donations, with 60% of total donors composed of CCCU and its members.

SAN DIMAS, Calif., Sept. 19, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The recent tragedy in Maui impacted many lives in various ways, and it also compelled one organization to mobilize people of faith in-particular. With the belief of being stronger together, Christian Community Credit Union (CCCU) sent an urgent message to the entire membership database, rallying the community to support the people of Maui in partnership with American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS).

Generosity, compassion, and restoration have been a part of CCCU's culture since our founding over 66 years ago.

"Generosity, compassion, and restoration have been a part of CCCU's culture since our founding over 66 years ago. We felt God's calling to rally our members to respond as a community in this tragic time," said Blair Korschun, Christian Community Credit Union President and CEO. "Our hearts go out to the people of Maui who are facing the aftermath of these catastrophic wildfires. We stand in solidarity and are dedicated to helping the people of Maui restore their lives and community. We urge our brothers and sisters in Christ to join us in this collective endeavor to support relief efforts by donating to ABHMS or another reputable organization."

The call to action indeed generated an impactful wave of donations, with 60% of total donors composed of CCCU and its members. "As the people of Maui now seek to recover from the historic wildfires that devastated lives and property, ABHMS thanks CCCU for their generous contribution toward disaster relief for the victims," said Dr. Jeffrey Haggray, Executive Director of ABHMS and Judson Press. "CCCU's generosity advances our One Great Hour of Sharing offering considerably. Further, it reflects CCCU's long-standing benevolence in partnering with American Baptists to address human needs in times of crisis."

The funds raised will go directly to the efforts on the ground in Maui to help catalyze the process of restoration.
