Author shares important lessons both youth and adults need to learn as hunters
POST FALLS, Idaho, July 31, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Avid hunter and artist Harold Graehl noticed a gap between hunter education, safety instructions and actual certification, especially in young hunters new to the sport. Utilizing his graphic design background, Graehl created a comic book-style manual meant to both entertain and educate.
"Chris's First Hunting Adventure" is an illustrated guide offering lessons for new hunters, as well as giving them a guide to help pass their license certification. The book is even endorsed by the USA chapter of the International Hunter Education Association (IHEA-USA). It includes lessons on ethics, safe firearm handling, survival and a hunter's responsibility as a steward of conservation.
"This book demonstrates how all these lessons can be applied in the field while capturing the thrill and excitement of spending time in the wilderness with family and friends," said Alex Baer, the executive director of the IHEA-USA.
Throughout the book, Chris is faced with difficult hunting and survival decisions that are followed by short study questions. It covers everything from cleaning the gun and what to pack in an emergency kit to basic field dressing and what to do if lost.
"The material in the book contains valuable lessons for new hunters and offers a wonderful review of important lessons learned in a hunter education class," said Baer. "Students completing this book will have a great advantage when looking to pass certification."
