A Powerful Book Birthed on the Verge of Author's Suicide Attempt

Xulon Press presents a thought-provoking testimony for men and women of all ages - anyone lacking faith and feeling abandoned by God.

SPRING, Texas, July 25, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Author J.R. Butler is reaching out to help anyone who has lost their way and desperately trying to find their way in YESTERDAY'S FAITH ($19.49, paperback, 9781662870941; $7.99, e-book, 9781662870958).

Butler penned a book that is transparent, emotional and shares a powerful story of immeasurable desperation followed by healing and hope. What makes this story even more compelling is that it's his own story.

As with most people, Butler's life began with an abundance of God's favor. He experienced a divine intervention adoption followed by eight years of love and security living in a Christian home. Suddenly, everything changed and false hopes were followed by unanswered prayers. Not surprising, Butler felt abandoned by the God that he was taught to trust. Feeling there was no way out, he believed that his only hope for peace was through suicide. Miraculously, his suicide attempt was thwarted by his own thoughts and a book to share his story and potentially help many readers was born.

When asked what inspired the author to write this book, J.R. Butler said, "As I tell in my book, in 1990 I was sitting on the bed with the barrel of a gun in my mouth. My writing began as a suicide note. The suicide note became an explanation to my relatives. As I continued to write, my healing began."

J.R. Butler was born, raised, and currently living and thriving in Houston, Texas. He's been happily married for 20 years and has 2 wonderful sons, ages 16 and 11. He gives thanks, praise and glory to God every day. In 1983, he was living on a friend's couch. He had no job, no money, no vehicle, no mother or father, and no hope. He had only acquired 27 college credit hours. By the miraculous hand of God, 9 years later in 1992, he was standing front and center in a courtroom arguing his first case as a licensed attorney. Butler's primary interest and goal is to bring others to God, or back to God, through this book and his testimony. He hopes for his book to be successful enough to launch a second book. In addition to God, his other love is spending time with his boys every day.
