PALATINE, Ill., July 5, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Elderwerks President Jennifer Prell believes there is no age limit on learning or having fun.

Prell and her team are putting the final touches to Elderwerks 9th Annual Aging Better Senior Expo scheduled from 8:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9 at Stonegate Banquet & Conference Center, 2401 W. Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates.

Every year, the staff warmly welcomes the public to this free in-person and virtual event and invites them to interact with experts and 100 local resources to discover tips on aging topics and information about local home service agencies, senior communities, businesses, and benefits.

"The Elderwerks Aging Better Expo attracts over 400 in-person visitors and thousands of virtual visitors to our site to watch the educational seminars provided by our expert partners," Prell said. "Attendees are excited to learn about local services, attend live educational programs, and plan for future needs."

Visitors will attend in-person and virtual presentations about Medicare, social security benefits, estate planning, care plans for caregivers, and an annual legal checklist for aging well. This year, there is a focus on health and the presentations include exercise classes concentrating on strength, endurance, and flexibility and beginning chair yoga, brain health, and nutritional insecurity and how it relates to chronic diseases.

"As we grow older, exercise?physical or mental?as well as being conscious about our diets becomes more important to help us stay healthy," Prell said. "Physical exercise doesn't have to be complicated or strenuous or time-consuming for older adults to incorporate into their daily schedules, and our experts show them how it can be done. With mental health, we realize that our brains age over time, and we need to research ways to keep them active. One of our presentations demonstrates how we can recognize cognitive impairment, understand brain plasticity, and incorporate simple mental exercises to keep sharp."

Prell said the 2022 event brought positive feedback and hopes to continue receiving good responses as visitors check out the 2023 Expo.

"We heard comments such as how the event was well organized and how some enjoyed learning about the information provided by our presentations," she said. "We feel that we are providing an essential service with the Expo, and it really shows from previous feedback."
