Carter & Clyde Completes Sale of Content Business to Dormify, Inc.

Carter & Clyde, a college dorm curator and content platform focused on enhancing the student experience, today announced that it has completed the sale of its content business to Dormify, Inc. ("Dormify"), a New York-based leader in the dorm shopping and décor space. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Carter & Clyde launched its content business in Q2 2020, establishing a strategy that complements the retail arm of the website by providing best-in-class college insights. Today, the strategy has accounted for over two-thirds of all organic site traffic with an industry-leading 6.6% click-through rate, demonstrating the resiliency and success of the business unit.

"Dormify has long been recognized as the preferred dorm shopping platform for college students, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with them," said Matthew Stolper, the 22-year-old co-founder and CEO of Carter & Clyde. "We are confident that under their stewardship, our content business will be better positioned to outrank competitors while improving the lives of more college students than ever before."

"With this acquisition, Dormify is poised to expand its digital footprint, reach a broader college audience, and drive significant growth in organic site traffic," added Andrew Connors, Director of Growth Marketing at Dormify. "This investment underscores our commitment to maintaining our position as the one-stop online shop for dorm décor."

Following the sale, Carter & Clyde is winding down the remainder of its operations. "Although it's bittersweet to bring Carter & Clyde to a close, it has been an invaluable learning experience regarding operating a business and creating value. We built a robust foundation and are confident that Dormify will continue to build upon it," said Robert Ragland, the 23-year-old co-founder and COO of Carter & Clyde.
