COVID-19 Origins Investigation Must Continue, says AHF

With the origins of COVID-19 still undetermined after a recently released report did not prove it started from either a lab leak or an animal host, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) calls for the investigation to continue into all plausible causes until there is sufficient evidence to confirm or dismiss all possibilities with a high degree of certainty.

"Finding out how COVID-19 began remains imperative to global public health security, as that information is crucial for preparing the world to prevent similar future infectious disease outbreaks," said AHF Chief of Global Advocacy and Policy Terri Ford. "It's vital to global public health that governments and public health institutions adhere to transparency, accountability, and cooperation, particularly regarding outbreaks and their causes. We're creeping up on four years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic with still no definitive answers to its start. We urge investigators to continue until we know what happened that sent the entire globe into crisis and caused millions of preventable deaths."
