SafetyRights.com Raises Awareness on Emerging Crime Trends and their Impact on Victims

SafetyRights.com is raising awareness about escalating crime trends "jugging," "tap and glue," and "sliders," and offering legal support to victims while advocating for enhanced establishment security measures.

AVENTURA, Fla., May 26, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In response to an alarming rise in new crime trends across the United States, SafetyRights.com, powered by SteinLaw, one of Florida's leading personal injury law firms, is raising awareness about the risks and the potential devastating impacts on victims.

The three crime trends making headlines are "jugging," "tap and glue," and "sliders." Each poses a unique threat, exploiting everyday situations and leading to significant personal harm and financial loss.

"Jugging" involves criminals who wait in parking lots of high-traffic areas such as banks, malls, or stores. They target individuals who are visibly carrying valuable items or appear distracted. The victims, often unaware they are being watched, can find themselves subject to theft or, in extreme cases, violent attacks. This form of crime not only leaves victims with financial loss but also often leads to long-lasting emotional trauma due to the violation of personal safety.

"Recognizing potential threats is crucial to staying safe," says Brandon Stein, the CEO and Founder of SteinLaw & SafetyRights.com. "Criminals involved in 'jugging' use regular vehicles, making them blend into everyday traffic. It's their behavior that often gives them away. Watch for vehicles that seem to linger without purpose in or near bank parking lots, or those that appear to be watching or following you."

"Tap and glue" is an ATM-based crime. Thieves physically block card insertion slots and manipulate unwary users into using the contactless feature without properly logging out of their accounts. Once the victim walks away, the perpetrator can then access the account and make unauthorized withdrawals. This trend has severe financial implications for victims, often complicated by the difficulty in proving the theft to the bank due to the use of the victim's own PIN.

The third trend, known as "sliders," typically operate at gas stations. Perpetrators slide into an unlocked car while the driver is distracted at the pump and steal a purse or other valuable items. This trend not only leads to financial loss but can also result in identity theft if personal documents are stolen. The violation of personal space can also cause significant emotional distress.

SafetyRights.com shares tips to avoid becoming a victim of these crimes:

"These crimes are insidious and often leave victims feeling violated, helpless, and burdened with financial loss," says Stein. "At SafetyRights, we believe it's crucial to raise awareness about these crimes and the importance of victim advocacy. We also want to emphasize the responsibility of establishments to ensure security measures are in place to protect their patrons."

SafetyRights' team of experienced crime victim advocate lawyers is dedicated to helping victims of these and other crimes understand their rights and potential legal avenues for compensation. They offer comprehensive legal support to victims, from guiding them through the often complex legal process to representing them in court if necessary.

"Victims must remember that they are not alone, and they do have rights. If these crimes occur due to a lack of security measures, victims could have a case for negligent security. At SafetyRights, we stand ready to help," Stein adds.
