GreenTrees Wins 2023 Environmental Initiative Award from The SEAL Business Sustainability Awards

GreenTrees is named an ESG leader for the environmental impact of its Mississippi Alluvial Valley reforestation project

THE PLAINS, Va., May 24, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- GreenTrees, a global leader in reforestation to answer climate change and the largest reforestation program in the U.S., today announced that it won a 2023 Environmental Initiative Award from the SEAL Awards for its reforestation project in the Mississippi Alluvial Valley (MAV) region. The awards program recognizes companies prioritizing sustainability and the future of Earth's environment. GreenTrees was named a winner alongside many other prestigious companies, further positioning GreenTrees as an innovative leader in the reforestation and environmental industry.

"GreenTrees is honored to be awarded the SEAL Environmental Initiatives Award as we continue on our journey to work alongside our more than 600 landowner partners on the largest reforestation program in the U.S.," said Chandler Van Voorhis, co-founder and managing partner of GreenTrees. "Nature is the most scalable technology for repairing, recalibrating and removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. We are proud to stand alongside the other SEAL Award recipients that are putting the future of our planet and our people at the forefront of its purpose."

The SEAL Award recognizes GreenTrees' unwavering commitment to answering to the climate crisis through innovative and purposeful action. Founded in 2003, GreenTrees has pioneered reforestation in the U.S. and worked in public-private partnerships with government entities to empower landowners to participate in a vibrant, voluntary carbon credit market. The only carbon removal program open to both small and large landowners, GreenTrees provides the resources for individual landowners to change their land use to forests, measure the biomass growth annually and convert that annual growth into carbon credits while delivering revenue to them.

The MAV project, facilitated by GreenTrees, works to restore the region's forests and wildlife habitats through large-scale reforestation efforts by empowering small and medium sized landowners through financial incentives from carbon credits. With 130,000+ acres of land already reforested and 600+ participating landowners, the MAV project has removed more than six million metric tons of carbon from the Earth's atmosphere to date. The project continues to grow, but the already-existing planted acres will remove a projected 30 million metric tons over the next 40 years.

The SEAL Awards stands for Sustainability, Environmental Achievement and Leadership and celebrates environmental action by bringing together companies and individuals taking impactful steps to support sustainability. The award program recognizes companies prioritizing the environment's present and future at every level of their work.
