Each year, the America's Favorite Pet Competition invites canines and felines to come together to support an important cause?PAWS. Learn the details on the donation and, out of thousands of applicants, which cat and dog took the top honors.

PHOENIX, April 19, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Earlier this year, the America's Favorite Pettm ('AFP') Competition set out on its fourth annual pursuit to find the most cherished cat and dog in the country, and the winner and donation results are officially in.

"It is our great honor and privilege to announce that Colossal has raised over $3.2 million to benefit PAWS, a foundation that is near and dear to our hearts. There are few sentiments more heartwarming than humans helping animals ? and that's what PAWS does every day, all year round. If we can lend a hand (or a paw) to save the life of just one, we've succeeded. This grant is going to save a lot of lives, and we are humbled by that reality," says Colossal CEO Mary Hagen.

Colossal is also proud to reveal that the 2023 America's Favorite Pets are Oakley, a black tabby cat, and Hunter, a French Bulldog.

AFP's Top Cat, Oakley, was the first feline brought into a southern-Florida animal shelter after Hurricane Ian. Despite the turmoil that Oakley's future family was going through, they stepped in and adopted this sweet boy who needed a home. Oakley is known to be quite a firecracker?he loves to run around the house, attack human feet, and play with his new feline brother, Mario.

Hunter, the Top Dog, is the ultimate emotional support pup. He's cherished by many elderly residents at a local nursing home, and he loves to cuddle and be held like a baby. When he's not spreading love in his community, he enjoys swimming in the pool and chasing squirrels.

The 2023 Top Cat and Top Dog will both receive $5,000, be featured in the pages of Catster and Dogster Magazines, respectively, and hold the title of America's Favorite Pet. These victorious furballs will also be taking home their very own pet portraits, courtesy of the Competition sponsor, Crown & Paw. This fun-loving custom pet goods brand is dedicated to helping pet owners express their adoration for their beloved pets. From royalty to movie-themed creations, their pet portraits are truly one-of-a-kind.

The America's Favorite Pet Competition was operated by Colossal, a nationally registered professional fundraiser, on behalf of DTCare, a U.S. 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Hundreds of thousands of kitties and canines competed to take the title of America's Favorite Pet during the Competition that ultimately benefited Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) via a monetary grant from DTCare. Colossal and AFP are proud to continuously advocate for PAWS' mission to help cats, dogs, and wild animals thrive in happy, healthy homes or in their natural habitats.
