FACE Africa WASH Gala Returns for United Nations World Water Day

FACE Africa will host the 14th annual WASH Gala in New York City to raise funds and awareness for access to clean water in Africa and to celebrate the contributions of the Diaspora to the development of the African continent.

NEW YORK, March 23, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On Saturday the 25th of March 2023, FACE Africa will host the 14th annual WASH Gala in New York City to raise funds and awareness for access to clean water in Africa and to celebrate the contributions of the Diaspora to the development of the African continent.

The WASH Gala brings attention to the clean water crisis in Africa, with a fundraising goal of $1 million to support WASH initiatives on the continent. Globally, 800 million people lack access to safe water supply sources with 350 million people in Africa affected every day. 2 million people die every year due to waterborne diarrheal diseases, most of them children under the age of 5.

The FACE Africa WASH Gala is an official UN World Water Day event that brings together hundreds of guests from various sectors including finance, development, sports, fashion, media and technology, entertainment, and government, all with a passion for advancing social and economic development on the continent. The Gala also celebrates and honors advocates committed to social change, equity, and justice.

Past WASH Gala Honorees include UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, businessman and investor Tony O. Elumelu, Masai Ujiri, President of the Toronto Raptors, Marketing Executive Bozoma Saint John, U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, and Didier Drogba, Founder and President of the Didier Drogba Foundation.

"We are excited to be hosting the in-person WASH Gala after a four-year hiatus induced by the COVID-19 pandemic. The event is truly a celebration of Africa and her diaspora, who come together to raise funds and awareness about the water crisis in Liberia and across the continent." says Saran Kaba Jones, Founder and CEO, FACE Africa.

The gala will include a cocktail reception, formal dinner, program celebrating the organization's impact, and an after-party.
