Chocxo Goes Plastic Neutral to Help Fight Plastic Waste

Truly Indulgent Dark Chocolate Better-for-You Brand Partners with rePurpose Global to Become Certified Plastic Neutral

DELTA, British Columbia, March 2, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Chocxo, the truly indulgent, lower sugar, organic chocolate brand, is now Certified Plastic Neutral through a partnership with rePurpose Global, the world's leading Plastic Action Platform. Through this partnership, Chocxo will fund the recovery of as much nature-bound plastic waste as the brand uses in the manufacturing and packaging of its products. Chocxo's commitment will enable the removal of approximately 20,000 pounds of plastic waste each year, the equivalent of half a million plastic bottles, that would otherwise end up polluting the natural environment. This action on plastic waste by Chocxo is part of a wider plastic action strategy by the brand that includes plastic waste reduction while on its path to 100% recyclability and compostability.

"We have seen the devastating amount of waste generated everyday by the CPG industry, so to us, the urgency of this crisis was impossible to ignore," said Peter Higgins, President of Chocxo. "Our planet and communities need us to be better and always act responsibly, and Chocxo is making efforts to take action. Our mission has always been to make the most mouth-watering, delicious chocolate that is better for you and the planet. Though there is always more to do, we truly believe in the power of brands to affect long-lasting change for the better."

By contributing to fund a rePurpose Impact Project, Chocxo is enabling access to improved waste management infrastructure in global communities most impacted by mismanagement of plastic waste. While the brand continues to work against its long-term sustainability goals, taking action on the world's plastic footprint means creating meaningful change, today.

Chocxo is specifically supporting rePurpose Global's impact project Project Neela Sapana in Chennai, India to collect and process plastic that is low value, unlikely to be recovered from the environment, and would most likely otherwise be ocean-bound. As a disruptor brand in chocolate that is committed to always do better, Chocxo recognizes the serious threat that plastic pollution poses to the future of our planet and certifying products Plastic Neutral forms part of its long-term sustainability goals.

"Responsible action is at the core of Chocxo," said Aditya Siroya, Co-founder and Chief Impact Officer of rePurpose Global. "It is heartening to see them push the boundaries in tackling the plastic waste problem. We hope their commitment encourages more brands to take responsibility for the plastic that they are generating and to take more positive actions to reduce their plastic use and increase circularity."

By having products Certified Plastic Neutral, Chocxo is not only tackling the plastic waste crisis, but also supporting waste workers' incomes by attaching value to hard-to-recycle plastics, and providing safe, stable, and fairly-paid employment opportunities through local waste management enterprises.
