Recognizing the escalating need for quality care products at an affordable price, Neogen launches Initiative and partners with Veterinary Hope Foundation to support veterinarians on the front lines
LANSING, Mich., Feb. 7, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- When inflation started to climb in the aftermath of the pandemic, consumers, of necessity, had to cut back on their spending. As prices at the supermarket and the gas pump continue to rise, wreaking havoc on the household budget, pet owners report feeling the pinch. Neogen understands.
In a recent customer poll, Neogen found that 80 percent of those who purchase flea and tick medications feel they are being impacted by inflation. Nearly 40 percent indicate that inflation has had an effect on their spending habits regarding the pet products they purchase, and is even influencing how often they visit their veterinarian.
To address these concerns, Neogen launched the Provecta Cares initiative to tackle the rising cost of pet care. It highlights the right product ? Provecta ? that provides effective treatment for ticks, fleas and mosquitoes at prices pet owners can afford.
"Balancing the budget while ensuring their pets' needs are met has become a challenging job for many pet owners," said Leslie Oliver Cash, Vice President, Commercial Pet Healthcare at Neogen. "That's why we are committed to offering products that are both effective and affordable in these uncertain economic times."
In addition, because pet owners' concerns about rising costs may impact animal caregivers, as well, Neogen has partnered with Veterinary Hope Foundation (VHF). Neogen is contributing $10,000 to VHF to help in providing the?assistance and preventive?tools veterinarians and their staffs need to navigate the common stressors unique to their profession.
Veterinary Hope Foundation was established in May 2021 in response to a growing mental health epidemic in the veterinary profession. "The average pet owner may not realize the emotional toll that providing daily care for patients, many of them struggling to survive, can take on pet caregivers," said Dr. Blair McConnel, President of the Board of Directors for Veterinary Hope Foundation. "We focus on early detection and prevention of crises, and offer accessibility to and support of programs tailored for the animal care community. We are pleased that Neogen recognizes our purpose and has elected to support our mission and goals."
Cash concluded, "We are delighted that we can offer Provecta at reasonable prices and give pet owners at least some relief from the stresses of the current economic situation. We are also gratified that we can provide incentives and support materials to the veterinary practices we serve. Our partnership with Veterinary Hope underscores our commitment to raising awareness and support for veterinarians and veterinary technicians."
