Private Sector Roundtable on Global Health Security (PSRT) announces new leadership chair

The PSRT is pleased to announce that Allison Neale, Vice President of Public Policy for Henry Schein, Inc. and Managing Director of the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, has become the cross-industry coalition's new Chair. The PSRT continues to pursue its goal of achieving a world safe from global health threats.

Now, more than ever, it is critical to have a whole-of-society approach to global health security. As the COVID-19 pandemic has made clear, it is essential for companies to be full partners with governments and multilateral agencies to mitigate the social and economic consequences of health emergencies.

Neale has succeeded outgoing co-chairs Dr. Alan Tennenberg, former Chief Medical Officer, Johnson & Johnson Global Public Health, and Ashling Mulvaney, former Global Head of Access to Healthcare at AstraZeneca whose terms both ended in December 2022.

"Allison Neale has led many of the PSRT's policy activities ? especially with the U.S. government. Her skills, experience, and passion will continue to strengthen the PSRT's global impact and we are excited that she will be leading this vibrant coalition into its next phase," said Dr. Tennenberg.

Over the last 7 years, the PSRT has elevated the perspective of the private sector in health security. Most recently, the PSRT published "Global Health is Everyone's Business: Building Productive Partnerships to Prepare for Future Health Emergencies," which highlights the importance to engage the private sector during emergency planning before a crisis arises to ensure that response plans can be activated at the earliest stages of disease outbreaks.

Neale has held many leadership positions with Henry Schein over the past 14 years and has been instrumental in driving her company's health system strengthening and global supply chain resilience efforts.

"I am delighted that Allie has been selected as the next chair of the PSRT," said Stanley Bergman, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Henry Schein. "The work of the PSRT is essential to advancing global health security. Allie, who has been a critical member of Henry Schein's leadership team managing our pandemic response, will bring this experience to the PSRT as the health care supply chain challenges persist."

With the beginning of the new year, the PSRT will continue to engage governments and multilateral agencies around the world to strengthen global, national, and regional health security and foster greater public-private collaboration to help ensure more effective prevention, preparedness, and response strategies against the threat of global health emergencies.

"It is truly an honor to become Chair of an organization that I have seen firsthand is making tangible progress in building impactful public-private partnerships to strengthen global health security," said Neale. "There is deeply important work ahead as we continue to leverage the private sector's untapped potential to help build resilient health systems in new and innovative ways."
