Media Advisory - Office of the Auditor General of Ontario, 2022 Annual Report - November 30, 2022


TORONTO, Nov. 28, 2022 /CNW/ - This Wednesday, November 30, 2022, Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk will release her 2022 Annual Report.

The Auditor General will be available to media at the Queen's Park Media Studio at 11:30 a.m. to deliver remarks and answer questions. 

The document will be available publicly on our website at www.auditor.on.ca once it is tabled in the Legislature at approximately 10:30 a.m.

2022 VFM Reports

Climate Change Adaptation: Reducing Urban Flood Risk assesses whether the Province is effectively co-ordinating measures to address urban flooding.

Conserving the Niagara Escarpment looks at systems and processes to maintain and protect the prominent ridge, which extends 725 kilometers through southern Ontario.

COVID Contracts and Procurement reviews whether the Province made COVID-related purchases of goods and services with appropriate business plans in a timely and cost-effective manner given the urgency of the pandemic.

COVID-19 Vaccination Program assesses whether the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Solicitor General, in conjunction with other stakeholders such as public health units, established cost-effective processes to develop and execute a plan to vaccinate Ontarians in a fair, equitable and cost-effective manner.

Financial Management in Ontario Universities looks at the future financial sustainability of universities by focusing on Algoma University, Nipissing University, Ontario Tech University, and the University of Windsor.

Financial Services Regulatory Authority: Regulation of Private Passenger Automobile Insurance, Credit Unions and Pension Plans looks at the effectiveness of the regulator of non-securities financial services in three of its main areas of responsibility.

Highway Planning and Management assesses the Ministry of Transportation's efforts to alleviate traffic constraints and to accommodate forecasted population and economic growth by investing in new highway projects as well as maintaining and repairing existing highways through its rehabilitation program.

Liquor Control Board of Ontario: Information Technology Procurement looks at whether the LCBO has effective systems and processes in place to procure IT-related goods and services in a timely, cost-effective, fair, open and transparent manner.

Management of Hazards and Emergencies in the Environment looks at the measures the Province has taken to manage forest fires; floods; drought/low water; dam failure incidents involving oil and gas wells; erosion; soil and bedrock instability; and abandoned mine hazards.

Management of Invasive Species assess whether the Province is effectively managing the introduction and spread of harmful invasive species, which can cause harm to the local environment, economy and people's health.

Office of the Corporate Chief Information Officer (OCCIO) assesses the efforts the OCCIO has taken since its creation in 1998 to provide reliable and secure information technology systems and services to provincial ministries.

Ontario Energy Board: Electricity Oversight and Consumer Protection assesses whether the regulator is protecting consumers' interests and promoting economic efficiency in the electricity sector.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation: Casinos, Lotteries and Internet Gaming looks at the Crown corporation responsible for managing casinos, charitable gaming and Internet gaming and lotteries.

Ontario Power Generation: Management and Maintenance of Hydroelectric Generating Stations assesses whether OPG is effectively operating, managing and maintaining existing hydroelectric assets across the province.

Real Estate Council of Ontario assesses whether the regulator of real estate brokerages, brokers and salespersons is promoting a fair, safe and informed real estate market for consumers in Ontario.
