Media Advisory - The Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) meeting in Ottawa, Ontario, November 28 to December 3, 2022

OTTAWA, ON, Nov. 24, 2022 /CNW/ - The Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) meets twice a year to review the status of wildlife species that have been identified as potentially being at risk of extinction from Canada, as they are mandated to do under the federal Species at Risk Act (SARA).

The next meeting will take place in Ottawa, Ontario, from November 28 to December 3, 2022. COSEWIC will determine the status of 31 Canadian wildlife species. The range of wildlife species is broad, including insects such as Rusty-patched Bumble Bee, birds such as Eastern Whip-poor-will, and mammals such as North Pacific Humpback Whale and Northern Fur Seal.

Following the meeting, a press release will be issued that summarizes the results of the discussions, highlighting ongoing Canadian conservation challenges and successful conservation actions.
