PetMeds® To Raise Donations for Shelter Pets Evacuated After Hurricane Ian
Hurricane Ian left Gulf Coast Humane Society (GCHS) with major structural damage, leaving the 170 cats and dogs at the shelter in need of refuge. Local animal welfare organizations are in need of urgent support to care for the displaced cats and dogs.
DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Oct. 4, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As Hurricane Ian tore through the southwest Florida coast, the storm left Gulf Coast Humane Society (GCHS) with no water and no power and extensive damage including half of a roof blown off, downed fences, and outdoor play areas destroyed. The shelter is expected to remain closed for the foreseeable future while the damage is repaired.
The 170 cats and dogs at the non-profit, no-kill shelter have all survived and have been evacuated to other animal welfare organizations. Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League (PAARL) has transferred over 50 displaced pets to their facility in West Palm Beach and is accepting donations to support their transfer and care.
PetMeds® is sending monetary donations, food, and supplies to care for cats and dogs impacted by Hurricane Ian and is asking pet parents and animal lovers to consider making a direct contribution to help shelter pets that have been displaced.
