COVID-19 Pandemic - The government presents its daily update

QUÉBEC CITY, Aug. 23, 2022 /CNW Telbec/ - The most recent data on the evolution of COVID-19, in the last 24 hours, in Québec show:

• 951 new cases, bringing the total number of people infected to 1,171,605*;
• 29 new deaths reported in the last 24 hours, for a total of 16,252 deaths;
• 3,877 health care workers absent for COVID-related reasons (preventive withdrawal, isolation, awaiting results, etc.);
• 1,959 hospitalizations, including 665 due to COVID-19, for a decrease of 40 compared to the previous day;
• 263 new entries,
• 303 new discharges;
• 46 people in intensive care, including 28 due to COVID-19, for an increase of 4 compared to the previous day;
• 19 new entries,
• 15 new discharges;
• 9,210 samples conducted on August 21;
• 279,868 self-declared rapid tests so far, including 234,349 positive: 218 declared for yesterday, including 175 positive.

*Note that the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centres is restricted to priority clienteles.

• 16,975 doses administered are added, for a cumulative total of 20,587,339 doses received by Quebecers.

To limit the spread of the coronavirus as much as possible, it is important to follow basic preventive measures such as hand washing, physical distancing, wearing a face covering and following the instructions in effect.
