Despite Dem and GOP hurdles designed to limit opposition, The Alliance Party announces nine candidates for midterms

COLUMBIA, S.C., Aug. 22, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- After four years of hard work, The Alliance Party has overcome legal and regulatory hurdles by the Democratic and Republican parties designed to limit competition and will field nine candidates on ballots in three states this year.
Two are fusion candidates in South Carolina, approved to run as Alliance Party and Democratic Party candidates.

"The Republican and Democratic establishment in all 50 states and U.S. territories have implemented laws and regulations specifically designed to make it nearly impossible for the American people to have a real choice. When is the last time you voted for someone instead of having to choose between the lesser of two evils?" declared Ms. Griffith.

WALKED AWAY FROM THE FORWARD PARTY
Former South Carolina State Superintendent of Education , Jim Rex, The Alliance Party National Chair Emeritus, said party executives met for several days with leaders of the Forward Party, Renew America, and the Serve America Movement, and declined to join them.
"We walked away for many of the same reasons the cynics have been providing," said Rex, one of the founders of The Alliance Party. "They were all about rhetoric and little action. Our discussions devolved into mostly rhetoric without specific proposals and agreements on specific actions."
The Alliance Party has observable and measurable behaviors that are explicitly required of Alliance candidates for elected office.
"Americans rightly are sick and tired of the behavior of most of the candidates and elected officials that the two dominant parties continually recruit, run and support," said Rex. "Corruption, hypocrisy, self-interest, and just plain lying are rampant. Americans deserve better. We deserve what the Founding Fathers intended: 'citizen legislators' motivated by the desire to serve in the public's best interest and not by the desire to have decades-long careers in elected office."
The Alliance Party currently has nine candidates on state ballots:
- Hugh McTavish for Minnesota Governor and Mike Winter his Lt. Governor running mate
- Gregg Hendrickson for Minnesota State Representative in District 5B
- Larry Stanley for Washington U.S. House District 8
- Sarah Work for South Carolina State Treasurer
- Lisa Ellis for South Carolina State Superintendent of Education
- Jackie Todd for South Carolina House District 8
- Joseph Oddo for U.S. House District 1 in South Carolina
- Ryan Thompson South Carolina House District 106
Thompson and Ellis are fusion candidates approved to be on the ballot as Democratic and also Alliance Party candidates in South Carolina.
