Experienced Educator Kevin Menendez Macki Announces Candidacy for Miami-Dade School Board ? District 4
Kevin Menendez Macki, current Principal at Horeb Christian School in Hialeah, last week announced he will be running for a seat on the Miami-Dade School Board ? District 4. Last month, longtime Board Chair Perla Tabares Hantman declared she would not seek reelection. Tabares Hantman was elected in 1996 to represent District 4.
Menendez Macki, 41, holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Barry University and M.S. in Education Leadership from Florida International University. He has over 17 years of experience in education. Prior to joining Horeb, he served as a teacher in local area schools including Joella C. Good Elementary and Hialeah Gardens Elementary. Menendez Macki is currently the only educator running for the District 4 seat.
With a passion for education and commitment to serve his community, Menendez Macki promises to prioritize safety and mental health, provide support to retain teachers, make enriched programs more accessible, and enable parental involvement. "As a lifelong educator, my roles as a teacher and principal have helped me understand what needs to be accomplished for our students to thrive. It is important that the elected representative on the School Board has the knowledge and experience to help improve our children's education," commented Menendez Macki. "I was born and raised in Hialeah. Growing up, I attended various public schools in the area. Nothing is more valuable than an education to succeed. I would like to thank Perla Hantman for her 26 years of service to the community."
Menendez Macki currently resides in Miami Lakes with his wife and two sons. He serves on the Town of Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board and the leadership board for Schools United Miami.
