COVID-19 Pandemic - The government presents its daily update

QUÉBEC CITY, May 17, 2022 /CNW Telbec/ - The most recent data on the evolution of COVID-19, in the last 24 hours, in Québec show:

• 625 new cases, bringing the total number of people infected to 1,058,691*;
• 14 new deaths reported in the last 24 hours, for a total of 15,298 deaths;
• 5,350 health care workers absent for COVID-related reasons (preventive withdrawal, isolation, awaiting results, etc.);
• 1,634 hospitalizations, for an increase of 23 compared to the previous day;
• 105 new entries,
• 82 new discharges;
• 54 people in intensive care, for an increase of 3 compared to the previous day;
• 5 new entries,
• 2 new discharges;
• 10,231 samples conducted on May 15;
• 208,849 self-declared rapid tests so far, including 171,091 positive: 189 declared for yesterday, including 154 positive.

*Note that the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centres is restricted to priority clienteles.

Vaccination

• 10,192 doses administered are added, that is 8,889 doses in the last 24 hours and 1,303 doses before May 16, for a total of 19,783,398 doses administered in Québec. Outside Québec, a total of 331,591 doses were administered, for a cumulative total of 20,114,989 doses received by Quebecers.
