Rodney King's Daughter Lora King Partners with The Human Gathering to Provide 1,000 Meals to Families in Need This Holiday Season

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- According to The New York Times, this upcoming holiday season is slated to be the most expensive on record! Food prices have risen significantly, making it even more difficult for struggling, marginalized families to access the basic food they need. Lora King (Rodney King's daughter) remembers what it was like to grow-up in an environment of food insecurity.

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of Lora's father Rodney King being beaten by The LAPD. To honor her father's legacy, Lora King has partnered with The Human Gathering to launch "The Rodney King Holiday Fundraiser", an annual fundraiser on GoFundMe that will provide meals to families in need each holiday season. The Human Gathering previously worked with Lora King to create a scholarship program to support and celebrate African American Fathers.

"We're so excited to work with all of our amazing members and partners to make Lora King's vision a reality", says Human Gathering co-founder Joshua Jordison. Jordison has been working closely with Lora King since they first met in 2017. "Our best help has come from The Human Gathering family", says Lora King.

The recipients of the 1,000 Meal Giveaway will be selected through local partnerships in the Los Angeles area, with the meals slated to be distributed before Christmas.
