Justice for Warfighters: New Podcast by Grunt Style and Burn Pits 360 Advocates for Veterans Impacted by Toxic Exposure

In the U.S., some 3.5 million veterans have been exposed to life-threatening open-air burn pits and toxic material while defending the nation. Yet, the road to healthcare is anything but easy.

That's why Grunt Style, a patriotic apparel brand known for its philanthropic efforts in the military and veteran communities, and Burn Pits 360 have launched "Gaslighting the Warfighter," a new podcast intended to shed light on this injustice and rally support to establish presumptive care for veterans experiencing respiratory and other exposure-related health conditions.

Hosted by Marine veteran and Grunt Style Chief Strategy Officer Tim Jensen, as well as Rosie Torres, Executive Director of Burn Pits 360, the podcast will feature political activists, experts, and veterans to discuss how the nation's military heroes are faced with toxic exposure, the roadblocks they face when navigating the VA health system, life after diagnosis, and how Americans can join in the fight to recognize toxic exposure as a cost of war, and get veterans the benefits and treatment they need and deserve.

"America desperately needs to hear what life is like for veterans after war," says Jensen. "After years of dedication to their country, veterans have been silenced, rejected, and are losing hope. It's time for America to stand up. We created this podcast to mobilize not just our community of 3 million followers, but the entire nation to help veterans feel seen and to take action. Silence is a deadly weapon being used to prevent veterans from getting the care they need. We will not be silenced anymore."

In the first episode of Gaslighting the Warfighter, Jensen and Torres explain the dangers of toxic exposures, its health impacts, and the vigorous work being done to craft legislation that will bring change to veterans and their families. In Episode 2, the hosts are joined by John Feal of the Feal Good Foundation, who dives into his work successfully lobbying for the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund to provide health care for Ground Zero First Responders. Feal shares key components of his playbook to the Burnpits Team to get presumption passed in congress.

"This podcast will be lifesaving," notes Torres. "Veteran suicide makes up 14% of total suicides in this country, in part because these heroes feel deserted and can't get access to the resources, health care, and help they need. Our mission with this podcast is twofold: Provide a platform for the warfighter community to share their journey and to campaign for presumptive care for veterans who have suffered in silence for way too long."

Gaslighting the Warfighter airs every first and last Thursday of the month and is available on Grunt Style's Facebook page and Spotify.
