This study analyzes US residential roofing demand by product, market, and subregion. Residential roofing product demand is provided in both area terms (squares) and value terms (US dollars).
Residential roofing product demand is segmented by the following product types:
Asphalt shingles, including standard laminated, high-performance laminated, and three-tab types
Metal, including standing seam roofing; corrugated and smooth panels; and shingles, shakes, and tiles
Bituminous membranes, including polymer-modified bitumen membranes and standard roofing felts
Roofing tile, comprising both concrete and clay types
Wood shingles and shakes
Other products, including composite (polymer), slate, solar roofing, fiber cement, plastic roofing, rubber roofing, liquid-applied roof coatings, tensioned fabric, vegetative, and corrugated asphalt panels
Residential roofing shipments, imports, and exports are also shown at the aggregate level in millions of dollars. Average product prices (at the manufacturers' level) and installation costs are provided for major product types in dollars per square.
Excluded from the scope of the study are such related products as roofing underlays, flashings, and coatings used as repair and restorative compounds and not used as a structure's primary roofing material.
Demand for residential roofing is also analyzed by application (new and reroofing) and by housing type:
Single-family housing
Multifamily housing
Manufactured housing
Residential roofing demand is also broken down for major US geographic regions and subregions.
