Going above and beyond: Wells Fargo and APIA Scholars are reaching more students than ever with essential career resources and support

WASHINGTON, April 6, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- During an unprecedented time for college students, Wells Fargo has stepped up its commitment to career resources and professional support with a webinar series that continues to grow in scope, size and smiles. The 2021 Wells Fargo Beyond College Webinar Series kicked off the year with topics including Charting a Path to Graduate School, Defining and Building a Strong Leadership Brand, and Creating a Rock-Solid Resume.

The series, produced and emceed by Wells Fargo's Relationship Manager, External Engagement, Dewey Norwood Jr., and with speakers spanning from college admissions executives to corporate executives, has truly inspired many college students to take the next step in their careers. Beyond College has been supported by a number of corporate, nonprofit and academic partners which has helped in expanding its reach to more students throughout the nation.

The College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska Omaha has been partnering with Wells Fargo for six years to bring financial literacy to its students. Laura Beal, Finance Lecturer at University of Nebraska at Omaha, notes that the webinars in particular have been extremely successful, especially during the pandemic and that student feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

"Dewey Norwood offered great detail for keeping track of our debt, controlling accumulation, and paying it off. I really admired how personable he was with us, and always telling us we can ask questions at any time," commented a student from University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Recently, Wells Fargo partnered with APIA Scholars to reach its audience with this critical and insightful information. APIA Scholars, a scholarship foundation for the Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) community has been diligently working toward granting greater access to education among APIA community youth in order to elevate individuals and empower the community to achieve socio-economic change.

"Wells Fargo is excited to collaborate with APIA Scholars once again through the Beyond College Webinar Series," said Julie Caperton, Head of Banking, Lending and Trust for Wells Fargo. "In the last ten years, the company has provided more than $9M in financial support for scholarship and programming to support the APIA Community and this webinar series is an example of that support. We believe that the topics addressed are timely for college students at any phase of their higher education experience."

On Thursday, March 25, the series once again broke records with nearly 600 registered students bringing this year's roster of Beyond College alumni already to more than 2500 young professionals from nearly 700 distinct colleges, universities and high schools. The session, Preparing for Success in your Job Interview, entertained more than 50 student questions.

"I have been fortunate to be involved with this series since its inception seven years ago," Norwood said. "Last year's series reached a record-setting 10,000 registrants and on-demand viewers. And now with on-demand YouTube playback, anyone can access the series. I'm proud that this series continues to spotlight a wide range of topics and feature partners who enjoy sharing their career experiences with students, especially my Wells Fargo colleagues."
