Read Across America Day: Join The #AdventureTedChallenge and Childhood Cancer Society Send A Child to Disney

On Read Across America Day, March 2, 2021, Childhood Cancer Society is thrilled to launch The #AdventureTedChallenge to encourage literacy and positivity, while surprising families battling childhood cancer with an all-expense paid VIP Disney/Universal Theme Park Vacation at Give Kids the World Village! Funded by the Rotary Club of New York and partnering with Adventure Ted, from the children's book Adventure Ted: Night At The Enchanted Theme Park, the campaign is a nationwide read along challenge that will extend through June 2, 2021. In the positive spirit of Adventure Ted, a brand centered on helping people overcome challenges with warmth and resilience, as well as the spirit of the Rotary Club's service above self-culture, the #AdventureTedChallenge seeks to not only encourage a read along challenge but also warm hearts and inspire our nation.

Thomas M. Head, Founder and CEO of Childhood Cancer Society says, "When you open a book, you open many doors," he adds, "the Adventure Ted Challenge not only provides an opportunity to encourage reading and sharing stories with friends, families, and children but also grants the opportunity to create a powerful and memorable experience for a family battling childhood cancer."

To join in the fun, participants must follow the @AdventureTed.Official & @ChildhoodCancerSociety Facebook Pages. From March 1st-5th, challenge participants can download free Kindle copies of Adventure Ted Night at The Enchanted Theme Park on Amazon. Then, they are encouraged to screen share their digital copy of the book, on FB live, as they read the book aloud to their friends and family. Participants should be sure to use the tags @RotaryClubofNewYork, @AdventureTed.official, and @ChildhoodCancerSociety and to entitle the post "The #AdventureTedChallenge."

Participants will have exciting access to incredible bonuses. Anyone who raises $100 is eligible to receive the first edition of the Adventure Ted Plush! For every $5,000, either individually or collectively, raised, participants may personally select a family or recommend a hospital for Childhood Cancer Society to reach out to and offer this once in a lifetime trip.

Once the challenge is complete, Childhood Cancer Society will announce the Wish Grant Recipients on their pages! For more information visit www.AdventureTedWorld.com or our Facebook Page.

"The greatest gift we can give to our kids is the lesson of giving to others, this challenge is a wonderful tool to not only encourage reading, but to also use reading to benefit others. We encourage families around the country to join us in our effort to help others see the adventure in all that they do while spreading positivity and raising money to help families battling childhood cancer," concludes Thomas.

Disclaimer: Although CCS would like to allocate an unlimited amount of money to this cause, funds are limited. At this time CCS can only allocate up to $35,000 towards the Disney Wish Grant campaign. Eligible children must reside in the US, the child must currently have cancer, and not have gone to Give Kids The World on a Wish Grant experience previously. Childhood Cancer Society will cover the expenses (including flights & car rental) of the child with cancer (must be under 18 years old), up to 2 guardians, and up to 2 siblings subject to Give Kids The World participant guidelines (contracts/etc.). Wish grant recipients are determined at the full and sole discretion of Childhood Cancer Society's wish granting committee.
