Allstream Wins Coveted Position on 15-year Department of Veterans Affairs NLEC Services Contract
North American business communication leader Allstream announced today that it has recently been selected as an authorized service provider on the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) National Local Exchange Carrier (NLEC) Next Generation contract. This is a 15-year Indefinite-Delivery/Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract, valued at over $720 million.
Continuing to build on its commitment to the government sector, Allstream along with their partner Pavelcomm, affirms their position as a leading service provider in the U.S. by providing wired telecommunications services to VA Medical Centers and clinics for a period of 15 years.
- The Department of Veteran Affairs maintains a complex Information Technology (IT) infrastructure that supports approximately 360,000 VA staff nationwide.
- These employees serve over 21 million Veterans.
- The IT is integrated across 152 Medical Centers, 820 Community-Based Outpatient Clinics, and 300 Vet Centers
Awarding Allstream the honor of authorized service provider demonstrates the VA's confidence in Allstream's ability. It provides the VA a responsive partner who understands the need for communication between their agency and veterans, nationwide.

As an authorized service provider on the VA's NLEC Next Generation services contract, Allstream will support the VA Office of Information of Information & Technology (OIT) by leveraging our advanced data Network. We will provide Session Initiation Protocol Trunk Service (SIP) and traditional wired phone service as well as internet and WAN optimization. By placing the VA Medical Centers on the Allstream network, Allstream makes it easy for the VA to fully develop, upgrade and expand their services across their service territories.
