The Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) virtual meeting, November 28 to December 4, 2020
OTTAWA, Nov. 26, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - The Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) meets twice a year to review the status of wildlife species that have been identified as potentially being at risk of extinction from Canada, as they are mandated to do under the federal Species at Risk Act (SARA).
The next meeting will take place virtually from November 28 to December 4, 2020. COSEWIC will determine the status of 40 Canadian wildlife species. Among these are Beluga Whale, a number of populations of Chinook Salmon, Steelhead Trout, Canada Warbler, Red Knot and Lesser Yellowlegs, mammal, fish, and bird species that migrate long distances over their life cycle.
Following the meeting, a press release will be issued that summarizes the results of the discussions, highlighting ongoing Canadian conservation challenges and successful conservation actions.
