Young people who have access to fun, experiential programs that build their creativity and entrepreneurial skills are more prepared for school, career opportunities and life. These skills and mindsets help them become the business and community leaders, social advocates, community volunteers and forward-thinking citizens of tomorrow.
Coinciding with National Entrepreneur's Day, Lemonade Day is proud to announce that its innovative programming will now benefit more young people in underserved communities. Through Lemonade Day's educational curriculum and digital platform, students in more communities across the country will have access to these opportunities, whether they are learning in-person or online.
"Young people who have the opportunity to create, innovate, and think like entrepreneurs, are better equipped to succeed in the future," said Christopher Stallworth, program officer at the Mott Foundation. "We're delighted that Lemonade Day, working in concert with afterschool programs, will bring these opportunities to more of our youth."
"We are grateful for the generosity of the Mott Foundation," said Lemonade Day National Board Chair Charlie Hamilton. "Lemonade Day plans to work with afterschool programs and nonprofits in targeted areas for student recruitment, and with community businesses for mentors to give kids the taste of sweet success that comes with owning their own business."
Lemonade Day's Impact
Lemonade Day teaches valuable business, financial, and character-building skills that are fundamental ingredients of an entrepreneurial mindset and better prepare kids to be successful, financially healthy adults. Mentors teach the Lemonade Day lessons through workbooks and its new online platform; an app called My Lemonade Day. In 2020, in the face of COVID-19, the organization introduced Lemonade Day, My Way to enable participants with options to continue to host their lemonade stand in-person or virtually.
