American Wild Horse Campaign Announces MTV's "The Hills" Star Kaitlynn Carter as Ambassador to Bring Awareness to the Inhumane Treatment of Wild Horses in America

DAVIS, Calif., Sept. 24, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The American Wild Horse Campaign (AWHC), a nonprofit organization working to ensure the future of America's iconic wild horses and the public lands where they roam, announces Kaitlynn Carter, writer, entrepreneur and television personality on MTV "The Hills" as an official AWHC Ambassador. In this role, Kaitlynn will bring awareness to the inhumane treatment of American wild horses across the country. Kaitlynn officially announced her participation today on her Instagram account @kaitlynn.

Kaitlynn will make her first official appearance as Ambassador to the American Wild Horse Campaign at this year's AWHC virtual fundraiser, October 1 from 5-6 PM (PST). The hour-long event includes a majestic journey across five states with wild horses to raise awareness about the inhumane treatment of wild horses in America. The AWHC is the leading nonprofit organization working to ensure the future of America's iconic wild horses and the public lands where they roam. Tickets for the event are $100 and all proceeds go to AWHC's work to keep wild horses wild.

"We are very excited to have Kaitlynn Carter join our team as an Ambassador," said Suzanne Roy, Executive Director of American Wild Horse Campaign. "Kaitlynn's efforts to bring awareness to the younger generations to help protect the American Wild Horse and preserve this American icon for generations to come is a tremendous addition to our mission."

America's wild horses are national symbols of freedom and the untamed spirit of the West. They live on public lands and are protected under a federal law that is supported by 80 percent of Americans. Yet the Bureau of Land Management, a federal government entity, manages these iconic animals in the cruelest, most outdated, and expensive way possible, using helicopters to round them up by the thousands from public lands every year. This brutal and inhumane treatment is driven by the commercial interests that seek to exploit the public lands for private profit.

Kaitlynn Carter is currently the star of MTV's "The Hills." She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2010 with a B.A. in English, with a focus in Journalism and Creative Writing and went on to become a powerful social media influencer. She has worked with major brands such as Coach, Marc Jacobs, Rachel Zoe, Jonathan Simkhai, TRESemme, Anthropologie, Billabong and Dolce & Gabbana among many. In 2019, Carter began freelance editorial work and published a personal essay in ELLE Magazine on the topics of sexuality and labels, which garnered high-praise by the media at large, which deemed the essay "powerful," "important," and "brave." In addition to her professional commitments, Carter is an advocate for several animal rights and rescue organizations, and has been featured in Vogue, WWD, and Daily Front Row.
