Tabling of the Highlights of Saint-Laurent's 2019 Financial Report

SAINT-LAURENT, QC, July 2, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - In accordance with the Charter of Ville de Montréal, which stipulates that at a regular Borough Council meeting held in June, the Borough mayor must report to residents on the highlights of the Borough's financial results, Saint-Laurent Mayor Alan DeSousa tabled his Highlights of Saint-Laurent's 2019 Financial Report at the Council meeting held on June 30.

In addition to presenting the details of the 2019 budget, including expenditures incurred under the Three-Year Capital Investment Program, the Mayor presented a review of the year's achievements in the various aspects of municipal administration. 

"The year 2019 was marked by several achievements relating to our strategic plan and several public actions and positions in favour of the environment and sustainable development. Accordingly, a new step was completed to extend beyond awareness and accompany the population through the transition to action," stated Mayor DeSousa.

Among the highlights of 2019, Mayor DeSousa mentioned the organization of the first Eco-citizens' Rendez-vous; the unveiling of the key orientations of the biodiversity corridor; a 20% reduction in greenhouse gases on the territory since 1990; the arrival of self-serve bicycles and cars; the opening of the Mixlab at the Bibliothèque du Boisé; the renovations at the Bibliothèque du Vieux-Saint-Laurent and the inauguration of the active trails network for seniors in the Chameran sector.

The Mayor of Saint-Laurent also mentioned the 79,322 requests processed by the Bureau du citoyen; the 896 housing units striving for LEED Silver certification approved by the Advisory Committee on Planning; the 816 new trees planted; the $318.6 million in building permits; the $842 million in investments by businesses and the 125 businesses newly established in Saint-Laurent.
