National Society of Collegiate Scholars Announces Advisor of the Year Awards
WASHINGTON, May 28, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), today announced the recipients of their National Advisor of the Year awards and Regional NSCS Chapter Advisor of the Year awards. Dr. Penny Warner from Winona State University has been named the Laura Taddeucci Downs National Advisor of the Year. Dr. Warner serves as the department chair for Early Childhood and Elementary Education.
"Dr. Warner is one of the most extraordinary club advisors I have ever known, and her leadership of NSCS makes a huge difference on campus and in our community, so this is well deserved. We are very proud of her, and of our NSCS chapter," said Winona State President Scott Olsen.
NSCS also announced its regional advisor of the year award recipients. They are Dr. Richard Fogarty, University at Albany (Region 1), Ms. Sarah Spring, University of Louisville (Region 2), Dr. David Marshall, California State University, San Bernardino (Region 3), Mr. Chip Tuson, The Ohio State University (Region 4), and Ms. Jacque Loghry, Northwest Missouri State University (Region 5).
Other special advisor awards announced include: Co-Advisor Team, Dr. Deborah Garrity and Ms. Francie Glycenfer at Colorado State University, New Chapter Advisor, Ms. Rebecca Rodas at Portland State University, and Founding Chapter Advisor, Mr. Najee Wise at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
"These advisors are the prime example of what it means to be an NSCS member," said NSCS Executive Director Scott Mobley. "They have represented their communities of fellow high-achieving scholars to the best of their ability. They have demonstrated what it takes to be a scholar and a leader. NSCS is and will forever be grateful to these individuals for both their personal and professional service to our chapters."
All recipients of this honor are NSCS advisors who continuously displayed strong leadership and unwavering support and dedication to their NSCS chapter over the past year. These advisors have truly helped student officers and chapter members to embody the society's pillars of scholarship, leadership and service by coaching and mentoring students.
