RCMP arrest individual in relation to Fentanyl Importation


TORONTO, March 24, 2020 /CNW/ - In August of 2018 an investigation was conducted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Toronto Airport Detachment (TAD) for the importation of Fentanyl, a suspect Michael Christopher Wozney was identified. Officers attempted to arrest Wozney but he fled in his vehicle in a reckless manner. Due to public safety concerns the RCMP discontinued the enforcement action and as a result, Wozney escaped apprehension. A Canada wide arrest warrant was issued for his arrest. 

On March 9th 2020, RCMP officers from TAD located and arrested Wozney in Toronto.  At the time of his arrest, Wozney was in possession of fentanyl.  Further investigation revealed he was responsible for importing fentanyl and amphetamines on several other occasions.

Michael Christopher Wozney (34 years old) of Etobicoke, ON is facing 16 criminal charges in relation to the possession, importation and trafficking of fentanyl, as well as other criminal code charges. The charges are described as follows:

Wozney is being held in custody, his next court appearance is March 26th 2020 at Old City Hall in Toronto.
